A very good friend of mine needs a second toilet installed at ground floor level due to poor health and getting up the stairs.

The stack from upstairs bathroom comes down right by her back door inside the kitchen then runs (we believe) down the garden.
It is a row of 10 terrace house`s with 2 manholes 1 at each end of the row. She has a brick shed around 6ft away from the kitchen back door with a covered area in between and would like to put a ground floor toilet in here.

Local builders are saying she must have a manhole for the connection of the second toilet and she can`t understand why a sweeped tee can`t be used to make the connection if the second toilet is placed directly over the pipe.

All help gratefully received.

Wouldn't it be just as easy (or not a lot more extra work) to build a manhole
The plastic sectional ones are quick to instal
I think I would want a manhole (inspection chamber) if it were me TBH
And probably need one to comply with building regs
