Wondering has anyone found that plastic heating pipes have shrunk?
I removed old rad valves that were piped with I think grey Hep from a screed floor and noticed that some of the pipes then became too short for connecting to the valves. (New valves were identical reach for pipe distance, so nothing to do with them)

Once had copper pipe to a cistern "Spring" backwards about 2", it was a right bugger to reconnect.

Hi Jonny. Some were literally needing to be pulled hard to just reach the length and I decided to tighten the valve onto the pipe first, just so the olive was full on before I would put a little strain on valve to connect to radiator.
So a quarter of an inch longer would have helped, but one pipe was half an inch short and I had to lower the rad by drilling brackets lower.
I think the plastic pipes obviously must shrink, as I see no other explanation, but didn't help that the installer has done a poor job
